We finally finished up our Summer Fun List and did so in one evening. Since it was Labor Day weekend and super warm, we decided to attempt to take Landon camping for the first time. While we were at it, we would also knock out making homemade ice cream and also do a scavenger hunt.
We set up camp Thursday night so that it would leave us less to do once we got off work Friday. Landon loved helping.
When we arrived Friday evening, we started out with the Scavenger Hunt.
Next up, we built a fire and roasted some weenies and marshmallows.
Then we made some homemade ice cream in bags. This was surprisingly good! It will freeze your hands off if you're not careful & I'd recommend a large empty coffee container or something similar instead of the gallon size bag, but it worked. Landon wouldn't have been able to shake it for the full 5 minutes though. Not even 1 minute because it gets so cold. We sat around the fire roasting weenies and talking with family for awhile before Landon decided he wanted to go to bed in the tent. That was not his plan though. He thought the air mattress was a trampoline and he never laid still more than a minute at a time. Add to that the fact that it was extremely humid and like 900 degrees in our tiny tent, along with a "queen" sized air mattress that felt like a twin size for the 3 of us. Finally after an hour of running around bouncing through the tent, Landon said I just can't sleep without blanket and Dadas shirt, lets go home! I happily obliged. :)
Then 3 minutes later.....
